Case study
Oscar Cruz Construction: bringing a local hardscape contractor online
Oscar Cruz Construction does hardscapes and full-service construction across metro Atlanta. Oscar is great in the field. The business side (a website, reviews, quotes, finding work) was eating time he didn't have. So we built the systems that handle it.
At a glance
- Client: Oscar Cruz Construction, a hardscape and construction contractor in metro Atlanta
- Services: website build, review and Google Business setup, estimating automation, bid-board lead pipeline
- Status: live and in daily use
- Website: oscarcruzconstruction.com
The problem
Oscar is a hands-on contractor. He can tell you exactly how many guys, how many days and how many yards a job takes. What he didn't have was the business machinery around that skill. There was no website for customers to find. Good reviews from happy customers weren't showing up anywhere a new customer would look. Every quote had to be typed up by hand, which is slow and easy to get wrong. And the public bid boards where cities and counties post work were too much to watch every day on top of running jobs.
That's a common story for small contractors. The work is excellent. The paperwork is the bottleneck.
What we built
A website that says what they do and where
We designed and built oscarcruzconstruction.com around the searches their customers make: hardscapes and construction in metro Atlanta. It's fast, works on a phone and makes it easy to call or ask for a quote. We host and maintain it, and every change goes through a staging review before it goes live.
Reviews and a Google Business listing
We set up their Google Business listing and a simple way to collect customer reviews, then published them on the site. Reviews show first name and last initial only. We don't put customers' personal details on the internet.
An estimating system Oscar can fill in in minutes
This is the piece that saves the most time. Oscar fills in a simple spreadsheet with the things he already knows: the job, the work items, crew and days, materials and his rates. Our generator turns that into a professional, branded client quote as both a PDF and a Word document, with a line-item table, optional items, assumptions, exclusions, terms and a signature block. It also produces an internal cost worksheet, so Oscar can see his real cost and margin on every job before he sends the price.
The math behind it is the same math in our free markup vs margin calculator, which we published for any contractor to use.
A lead pipeline that watches the bid boards
Cities, counties and school districts post work on public bid boards. We registered the business, configured alerts across the trade categories that fit their work, and set up a pipeline that surfaces matching solicitations instead of making anyone scroll listings every morning. When something fits, we prepare the paperwork and pricing so Oscar can stay on the job site.
How we worked
We treated it the way we treat every engagement: listen first, build the smallest thing that removes the most pain, then keep going. The estimating sheet started from how Oscar already thinks about a job, not from a software template, which is why he can use it without training. Everything was staged and checked before it went live, and we kept the systems simple enough to run cheaply.
Results so far
- A live website, Google Business listing and published customer reviews where there were none
- Quotes go from a few typed numbers to a finished, professional proposal, with cost and margin checked first
- Matching public bids arrive automatically instead of being hunted down by hand
- The estimating system has already priced a full public-works subcontract quote
We'll add numbers here as the work accumulates. We'd rather show fewer results that are real than more that aren't.
